St. Camillus physical therapists help individuals work towards pain free, safe and functional movement. Areas of specialized physical therapy treatment include: Orthopedic and running injuries, brain injury and neurological impairments. Therapies are tailored to individual needs and conducted in comfortable, spacious treatment areas.
Occupational therapists assist in developing skills that allow individuals to lead independent, productive and satisfying lives. Treatments typically address muscle strength, range of motion, and cognitive and visual/perceptual skills in order to enhance everyday activities such as dressing, feeding and personal care.
Dizziness, vertigo, and balance issues can be debilitating. The vestibular system is one of the sensory systems used for balance. The sensory organs for this are located in the inner ear and have multiple connections to the brain, eyes, and muscles that assist with balance. When disease or injury affects the function of this system, dizziness and/or balance dysfunction can occur.
Vestibular rehabilitation uses specific exercises that can improve the body’s response to movement and ability to stabilize gaze, which can reduce symptoms of dizziness, and result in improvement in balance. Individualized exercise program are designed based upon results of evaluation.
St. Camillus speech/language therapists specialize in the early identification, treatment and management of communication problems, swallowing/feeding disorders and cognitive-linguistic skills. Some of our therapists are certified in Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT LOUD), a well researched and internationally recognized program which is designed to treat the voice disorder pattern typically exhibited by patients with Parkinson’s disease or Parkinsonian-like syndromes, as well as other neurological disorders, including Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, and stroke.
The Outpatient Clinic at St. Camillus offers specialized therapy programs for individuals with specific needs.
