October 15, 1998 For Immediate Release
St. Camillus RehabPath Program Adds Outpatient Rehabilitation St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center has merged its Outpatient Rehabilitation Program with its inpatient RehabPath Subacute Rehabilitation Program. All outpatient physical, occupational and speech/language therapy services are now coordinated and provided by the RehabPath (except St. Camillus Brain Injury Rehabilitation outpatient services). Thus, RehabPath therapists can continue treating their former inpatients who wish to come back for outpatient rehabilitation, as well as outside physician-referred outpatients. Many individuals who undergo inpatient rehab these days typically move on to outpatient rehab afterwards to maximize their recovery from illness or injury. Having RehabPath inpatients receive their outpatient rehab from the same therapists in a setting they already know well can be very powerful medicine. Providing outpatient rehab through the RehabPath also makes the program more comprehensive and effective. From admissions to scheduling, moving patients from inpatient to outpatient rehab is fast and flexible. Because the patient remains within the St. Camillus system, there's usually no lag or interruption in treatments. Reassessing the patient's functioning or goals is quick and simple since the patient and therapist have already worked together. Plus, other key staff members such as case coordinators and nurses are easily accessible to outpatients for addressing follow-up issues as needed. The St. Camillus RehabPath Subacute Rehabilitation Program provides short-term, accelerated therapies and treatments for inpatients and outpatients recovering from orthopedic conditions such as a hip/knee replacement or multiple fractures, a stroke or multiple sclerosis. The program helps patients function better and become more independent so they can make a smooth and quick transition from hospital to home. For more information about the RehabPath, please call admissions at 315-488-1500 or e-mail admissions@st-camillus.org. St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center is a not-for-profit healthcare facility featuring comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including subacute rehabilitation, brain injury rehabilitation and pediatric development programs; long-term/continuing care; home healthcare; outpatient rehabilitation; wheelchair transportation and a variety of other support services.
