to evaluate how well
she progressed at the
end of the
12-week class. St. Camillus is
encouraging older adults to exercise
in
order to become healthier, and
will explain
how in their upcoming
“How to Start
Exercising” seminars
on January 23 and
February 7 and 22.
Studies have shown that older
adults who regularly exercise end to
lead healthier lives—both
physically and mentally. Although
many older adults may know this,
most don't exercise because they
don't know how to get started.
St. Camillus Health and
Rehabilitation Center is trying to
change this by offering the
following "How to Start Exercising"
seminars:
Tuesday, January 23, 2007
9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
Wednesday, February 7, 2007
3:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Thursday, February 22, 2007
6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
All talks will be held in St.
Camillus' Building 3 Board Room, 813
Fay Road, in the Westvale area of
Geddes.
The "How to Start Exercising"
lectures are designed for older
people who want to know more about
starting an exercise program and who
want to have a more physically
active lifestyle. Participants will
learn how to start exercising
safely, how to get the most out of
their workouts, and how to maintain
an effective exercise program. St.
Camillus physical therapist, Patrick
VanBeveren, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS will
conduct the programs and also talk
about the St. Camillus Healthy Steps
Exercise Class.
Healthy Steps is a continuously
running 12-week exercise class. It's
geared toward older adults who want
to begin or continue exercising. The
hour-long classes meet twice a week
and are designed to improve
strength, balance, endurance and
overall wellness. The cost is $25
for each 12-week class.
